University of Nottingham - Civil Engineering, Geography, Mathematics

Three departments are represented in this directory, all of which are involved in activities relating to the marine environment.

1. The University of Nottingham's Department of Civil Engineering is consistently rated in the top Civil Engineering departments in the country. It has outstanding facilities and laboratories, which we recently spent over £1.5m upgrading. There are dedicated teaching labs for structures, geotechnics and fluid mechanics. Head of Department is Professor Glenn McDowell.

2. The School of Geography at The University of Nottingham is highly distinctive in that it has internationally recognised strengths across the whole discipline, spreading from the arts and humanities, through the social and natural sciences to engineering and technology. Moreover, the school's work is internationally focussed, with teaching and research networks that span the world as well as having schools based at the University's campuses in China and Malaysia. Head of School is Professor Giles Foody.

3. The School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham is an innovative and thriving centre of excellence with a strong commitment to teaching and research of the highest quality, which is why it is recognised as one of the best places to study maths in the United Kingdom. The Head of School is Professor Ian Dryden.
