Company members

HR Wallingford has Scientific Research Association status. We are a company limited by guarantee, and rather than having shareholders we have a panel of Company Members (who belong to the organisations listed below) who support and guide our activities, helping to maintain our position as a centre of excellence. Research at HR Wallingford

Our research covers all things aquatic, from the headwaters of river catchments out to the deep sea. We carry out research to provide specialist solutions for industry, to help develop policy, as well as pursuing self-funded research.
Practical solutions to water-related issues

The majority of our research is commissioned by clients who need to find solutions to specific water-related issues. This can cover providing innovative engineering solutions to developing models, guidance and manuals for public policy makers.

This commissioned research is carried out alongside specialist consultancy projects. We also lead and coordinate national and international consortia, and carry out interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects on nationally and internationally funded programmes. The continuous exchange between practitioners and researchers helps us to focus our self-funded research agenda where there is a real need.
