Marine laboratories

Our research provides an integral and essential part of the BGS science strategy, particularly within the energy, minerals and waste, land use planning and development, climate change and groundwater science areas.

The laboratories are managed through four discipline based facilities:geochemistry, physical properties, mineralogy, petrology, microanalysis and imaging and fluid processes research.

BGS has containerised laboratories designed for use on mission-specific platforms as part of the ECORD IODP progamme. These containers may be available to ECORD member states for use on scientific research cruises.
